Mrs. Bing Zee-Khakwani qualified as an Enrolled Nurse (EN – General) in 1987. She progressed through various specialities including A & E, Paediatric and Operating Theatre (acquired ENB course 188). In 1992, she completed a conversion course to Registered General Nurse (RGN). While working as a hospital nurse, she also studied and completed a Diploma in Management from Open University in 1996. To diversify her skills, she took up a senior nurse post in a spinal injury unit at Beechcare Nursing Home in Dartford. In this challenging position, she developed a strong interest in working within the community setting.
Zee-Khakwani started working as an assistant to a consultant urologist and running his private practice. While in this role, she continued to acquire new skills in accountancy and information technology.
In 2002, Zee-Khakwani felt that she could further her career in nursing, specifically primary care nursing, and took a post as practice nurse at Poverest Medical Centre. This position has confirmed her immense interest in community nursing, and since then she has attended many courses and study days to learn, develop and further her professional knowledge, skills and competences. Zee-Khakwani aims to provide direct access to specialist nursing care for undifferentiated patients within the practice population.
In her posts at Dr. Gnanchelvan’s Surgery, Baring Medical Centre and Kingfish Medical Centre, Zee-Khakwani has undertaken diagnostic, health screening, health education and health promotion, and chronic disease management (e.g. Asthma, CHD, COPD and Diabetes). Additionally, she runs the diabetic clinic with the dietician, podiatrist and the general practitioner and collaborates with other health professionals and agencies as appropriate.
Zee-Khakwani has completed the Bradford Diabetes Diploma Course and is working diligently to advance her professional development in primary care nursing.
She holds a full, clean driver’s licence and has a vehicle she can use for workrelated purposes.
